Title: M1 Roadworks - J6 - J10
Post by fallendark on Apr 26th, 2007, 1:04pm
I just thought i woudl have a random grumble about the bloody roadworks on the M1..

No i know its an old piece of road and needs the work, but its just that because of them it adds 30mins to my journey! LOL constant 40mph limit so thank god for my cruise control.. it just seems to me that well, they arent atucaly doing anything... ??

Anyway, was just grumbling, back to work i guess..

yep, its that time of year when the local councils are "using up" their road maintenance budgets.... you should driving through Edinburgh city centre. i go 12 miles to work, passed 8 separate sets of road works  >:(

still we have a bypass i could use, oh no, its going slower than the traffic through town !

50 mins this morning......you can see why i prefer the mini to the scorp for my commute  :D

40mph is absurdly low for the motorway, especially considering that:

a) It's still operating three lanes in each direction (I'd make it 60mph and two lanes)
b) 40mph is the minimum legal speed on a motorway (hence no cycles, horse-drawn vehicles, mopeds, etc).  Unless you do exactly 40.00mph you'd technically be breaking the law...
