Title: Isle of man TT
Post by cossiejamie on Jun 2nd, 2007, 11:22pm
As some of you may know it`s TT week at the Isle of Man. We all know how dangerous it is, but everyone goes there by choice.
Let hope for great racing  and a safe return for all the riders, spectaters etc, although i believe there has been one death already, dont know the details yet though :'(
Its 100 years old this year, lets hope for another 100 :)
Jamie

[] Brilliant racing, and on a very demanding course.

Went out to see it in the 60's and it was brilliant. Rode the course afterwards on my own Triumph Bonneville, and it was downright scary!  :o  :o

i remember an interview some years ago with the late great Joey Dunlop; they had just shown an on bike video (his bike) of some of the course, absolutely hair raising, they asked Joey how he did it?
yer maun simply replied 'i aim for the black bit between the green bits'....

an interesting fact about the tt; a race was once won by a dead rider some decades ago, he crashed a short distance before the finish line, his momentum carried him (still on his bike although sliding along the ground) over the finish line. a doctor pronounced he died instantly upon first impact with the road resulting in a snapped neck.

Well, it happened, as i knew it would.
A poor soul died whilst riding, and took 2 chaps with him in the process. Condolences to all the families involved :'(
John McGuiness made history in being the first to do a 130mph+ lap.
THATS AN AVERAGE OF 130MPH OVER 37 MILES.
Truly amazing. Hero`s, every last one of them IMO
