Title: running costs
Post by TRACEYS_LIMO on Jun 9th, 2007, 10:38pm
:( hi for some time the posts have been negative about resale values, the cost of the cars has gone very low and, so theres not much point in selling, that said I wonder how much a comfortable replacement car with similar spec would cost and how much you would loss after paying for it, the running costs of keeping the car must be far cheaper than the depreciation of the inferior replacement. so mines staying for the forseeable future :)

I did have a bit of a funny turn the other weak but it does make sence.
When a vehicle has hit its lowest resale value it is far more sensible to keap a hold of it.
As for those buying scorps for the first time at the minute they cant loose.

Unless it's Beckhams 1st proper car (Alledgedly) }{

I don't believe the price in one way but on the other hand, tis is a more realistic price for the cars in my opinion....

I dont really care how much or how little my scorpio is worth i love my car.I have all ways driven for a living and with all that driving wether local or around the uk you do get fed up sitting in traffic , paying charges for this and that , idiots on the road usually i come in from work and when the wife says lets go out as a family i get her to drive. But with a car as comfortable as mine ive started to enjoy my driving again and i dont need much of an excuse to get out and drive. And my car is going nowhere wether its worth 100 ,200,500 or £5000

if i cared about the book price of my cossie i wouldnt be spending very weekend i have rebuilding it after my crash. as the scorpio becomes a rare beast due to crashes, breakers scrappies etc the book value will turn around, and it does seem there is a bit of a demand for the old girls at them mo, every thing on ebay is selling and ive had offers on my 12ver even though its not for sale!(cheeky bugers lol  :P)

in the 15 months ive had my car its never let me down, even with the wrong parts fitted and some dodgy wireing it always started when i needed it to and has always got me from a to b with out fail.

if i sold the scorp i wouldnt bother looking for a car of equal quality as 1. if would be far to expensive  (and with the lux cars today there boring to drive) or 2. it just wouldnt be as good. id have go go the opp end of the scale and buy the mazda rx7 ive always been keen on  ;)

i may of paid a bit over the top for it when i got it considering its faults and i wish it did more then 16 to a gallon but who cares when you 'enjoy' the car you drive.

my cossie's staying put!

Crikey Matt, 16 a gallon? :o

How much lead do you line your shoes with again? :D

For that sort of money, it's a no brainer (hate those buzzwords but you know what I mean). Not exactly cheap or trouble-free to run but neither is any luxury car ::)

I've driven a '95 Lexus, '88 300S and '97 5 Series and they're dull IMO, all sterile and soulless.

Who cares what it's worth? If you like it then surely resale value doesn't matter.

I love my scorp. i loved my previous 2.0L exec that i had, even though it would`nt restart when it was warm, (FPR i think, my Dad has it now, but its SORN`d at the mo), but  i can`t help myself the majority of the times when i pull away i just have to floor it.
The feeling of speed, the sound, I just can`t get enough.
And i know all about speed. I have a Honda CBR600F, 0-60 in just over 3 seconds.
Cossie is no where near as quick, but for the size of the vehicle it seems in proportion, if you know what i mean.
I`m gonna keep it till anything really expensive breaks.
And probably buy another.
Nothing else on the road looks anything like it ;D

[] with all the posts.

Who cares what the cars are worth?

The experience is driving them, and owning a car that has more comfort and accessories than even £20,000 cars built last week have got.

I see people in newer cars every day, but I know for sure that MY car beats the nuts off theirs when it comes to ride and comfort quality.

I get great comments, and offers for the car quite regularly.

It's NOT for sale.......... ;D  ;D  ;D

Scorpios are great VFM - the odd repair or 2 can look a bit expensive against the market value of the car but consider the depreciation on a new car... I've never bought a new car and never will even if I won the lottery.
Most I have ever paid for any car in 27 years of driving was £5995 - and that was a Porsche.
Personally I think the Scorpio is a smart money buy.

Although it kicks out a mini black cloud when I floor it (or even just pulling off), my diesel is now capable of suprising people at the lights - you should see the look on the faces of people in their beemers as I'm not just keeping up, but gaining on them!!! ;D
