the g&s site has had a major server crash. i want to wish them the best of luck in fixing the problems and hope they're back up running soon.

Loss of Service

Some of you are obviously wondering where the Online Forums have gone.

Over the weekend our Service Provider encounter a power surge at one of their data centres.

This power surge 'affected' a number of hardware devices including a number of web and back-up servers. Our server was one of them and to make it even worse the back-ups of the databases were contained on a disk that also failed and became 'useless'.

At the moment we are working with the Service provider to establish which of the 'back-ups of the back-up' can give us the nearest version of the site's Forums and Collectibles Online Shop. At the moment we have nothing. As you may see the website is still up as that was backed up to other servers that were not affected.

As you will know this is a very serious situation and one that has our full attention. The resolution cannot be rushed or we may loss everything.

The next step is to get a temporary forum up and running - possibly by tomorrow evening (28/06/07)

The steps after that are to get the data that has been recovered into the Forum 'framework'. This WILL take time and we cannot give an ETC. The online shop is not going to be up either.
