Title: North versus south 2
Post by merseyscorp on Aug 24th, 2007, 10:43pm
I know this may seem sad, but I've just been sifting through some of the old posts. I found ' north versus south'. It's on page 56 or 57. It had me in absolute stitches. Sorry if it causes offence, but I'm not the author and I'm sure it was started in good humour.

and for the record, no, I don't have anything beter to do right now. :)

Good read, although the post about the Essex accent might be considered a bit out of date now.

That particular lazy thingyney sounding accent has been largely replaced by the more modern & popular Jamaican Yardy accent  ::)

If you walked through Basildon town centre on a Saturday afternoon with your eyes shut (apart from getting mugged), you'd swear you were in Kingston, Jamaica  ???

P.S.....I was born in SAFFEND  ;D

;D I'm with you on that one Mr Cab. When I used to spend a lot of time in the smoke, I did notice the use of 'pigeon English' I actually found the geordie section most humurous, which really was what I was refering to. The thingyney thing is rather old hat, bit like the scouse accent likkkkkkke. ;)

Listening to people talking the local 'in accent' is hilarious....it just shows how shallow & thick they really are....LOL... ;D
