Title: Champion
Post by Tons_of_fun on Nov 3rd, 2007, 7:28pm
Has anyone noticed that Champion ignition products are getting VERY scarce ! I,ve tried all my local motor factors & trawled the net looking for a set of RED 8mm ht leads, which i know champion used to produce.I can get plugs & wiper blades but sadly no leads. :-/ The only other alternative is to buy Magnecore but at £95 a set,i cant justify buying them, just so they match the engine colour coding  ::) ::)

You could buy some red heatshrink sleeving from an electronics suppliers, I paid about £2 a mtr, I think that would solve it for you and likely improve the insulation standard?

Just a thought....

Quite right J C they didnt make leads for a scorpio, but my engine is a 12v so the 2.9 granada leads will do the job just fine  :).Had a good look on e-bay & theres a guy selling Luminition leads in red but dosent list the scorpio ,but im sure they make them for the granada so i sent him a message .Well i can hope cant i  ::) ::) ;D

Possibly leads listed for a Ford Explorer which I think uses a 4.0 litre version of the cologne V6 might do the job.

Thanks mike. The guy from e-bay says Lumenition list a set of leads for a 2.9 v6,i just have to measure the length of the coil lead as there are 3 different lengths,(granada sierra + transit),so hopefully he will come up trumps  ::).The explorer i used to own was actually a 4.0l straight 6.......Absolute rubbish !!! Never have one again.Part ex ,d it for a range rover.Ok it was a lot more thirsty but the throrrle dosent jam wide open on them & try to kill you  :o :o

What year was your Explorer ?
I was pretty sure the later versions were V6 Cologne engined...could be wrong though.
