Title: Pay as you go car insurance
Post by PeteB on Nov 4th, 2007, 1:48pm
Anyone trying it at the mo ?

http://www.norwichunion.com/pay-as-you-drive/index.htm

My renewal's not until the new year but I'm keen to find peoples views on this such as do they make a mess when they fit the box in your car ?

I just got a quote from them for an estimated 3000 miles per year, only £60 cheaper than my normal policy with unlimited mileage, hardly worth it I think...

Although you pay the £95 only once for installing the box subsquent years will be less. Although they only guarantee the price for the first year which is a bit daft :o

"premiums paid in return for cover under your insurance policy for the first 12 months is greater than the total amount you would have paid for the same period under a Norwich Union Direct motor insurance policy, then we will refund you the difference"

Being a younger motorist with a claim to my name I can see this being handy :)

"£214 fully comp 24v unmodifiyed 45 yrs young   oh  ....direct line"

- how did you manage that? Directline charges me £355 fully comp, I'm 41 with five years protected no claims...perhaps it's also affected by area (I live in Surrey)...

Time to give them a call and see what's going on, £141 is one hell of a difference...

Post codes make all the difference.4 years ago i lived in tamworth (B79) & had a 95 Jag XJ6 Sport (4.0l) With 19" alloys ,powerflow exhaust & A Jaguar power upgrade (chip). Now i live in chelmsley wood (B37) drive a 96 12v estate Am 4 years older with 4 years more no claims & im still paying slightly more than i did with the jag.Lowest quote i could get was just under £280 tpft, but had to have additional immobilisers fitted to my existing security (standard pats + clifford concept 50) !!!.I,ve now gone with the AA.£315 tpft With a £200 excess, but have an AGREED VALUATION of £2000  ;D ;D
