Title: Re: B/W picture renovation Post by Baz on Nov 7th, 2007, 10:44pm Ren drop me a PM. As Richard says Photoshop is an amazing tool for restoring photos. I also use a program called black magic which adds colours to old b/w photos. If you are about, I could scan a copy for you and restore what you have for nothing.... I enjoy doing old photos and have done loads for family members etc. My mates wife is of German descent and I even did one of her Great Uncle. The photo was of him in full SS uniform!! Baz |

Title: Re: B/W picture renovation Post by Snoopy on Nov 12th, 2007, 7:17am Its NOT flintshire its CHESHIRE ... best tell them .. And I will check 4 U to see if it is a private address or a business . but I think the address you gave me is only housing might be worth small claims court procedure. |

Title: Re: B/W picture renovation Post by ren on Nov 12th, 2007, 10:21pm Dave thanks for that i sure they said Flintshire not Cheshire, but i will check and correct it,but iwould hope they got it right, Flint would put em right if they got a phone call, with nothing to do with them. ren |

Title: Re: B/W picture renovation Post by Baz on Nov 22nd, 2007, 2:19pm well I have done a couple of pictures for REN and he seems very happy with them! I have promised to print a few variations for him and post them to him when I get back from Gibraltar (I am currently on the gatwick express!) As for the feeble attempt at the renovation done by the chap who has charged so much....... It is truly appaling considering the amount charged. All of 10 minutes work I would say!!! Baz..... En route to warmer climes! |

Title: Re: B/W picture renovation Post by TiberiuS on Dec 14th, 2007, 11:53pm Ren. Best of luck with Trading Standards. BUT I've just spent a lengthy correspondence with eBay, Trading Standards, Consumer Advice etc about a car cover I bought last December. Ok it's a car cover, cost £100 and fell to bits in 5 months...get over it. But it's not the point, it's the principle more than anything. Sent several polite emails to the seller, got blanked. Complained to eBay, they didn't want to know. Emailed Trading Standards, they said ask eBay for seller's mailing address. eBay refused, said it was against policy. Back to Trading Standards, sent them a dozen photos and copies of my emails to seller and eBay, they bounced me over to Consumer Advice who basically said they were sorry about the problem but that I didn't have a hope in hell getting my money back from a firm who traded through eBay. If you want to restore photos yourself, there's dozens of programs which are pretty good, you normally get a decent photo program bundled even if you buy a printer or scanner or something. There's even a good freeware program called Gimp, I use it for my 3D stuff alongside Paint Shop. Even a fully featured copy of Photoshop wouldn't cost you any more than you paid for the restoration. Good luck :) Regards, Bruce. |

Title: Re: B/W picture renovation Post by ren on Dec 15th, 2007, 9:41pm Bruce Thanks for the input,T S are sending a letter attached with a photo that Baz did for me,and explaining in writeing what i expected for the money paid, pointing out that what was done did not seem value for money, he has spoken to T S by phone and defends his work, so they want him to explain in a letter to them as this could go to small claims, and want his view on that. yes could have gone out and bought a program/printer/ scanner for the money shelled out,but i didnt cus i thought it was a job for people classed as proffesional in that work, now i know its not,as Baz as shown. Regards Ren |
