Title: the premiership
Post by taliban aka Cheekyboy2 on Dec 30th, 2007, 10:01pm
seems too have woken up this season; after the shock it received from rugby's popularity football seems to have pulled its finger out a bit, and some excellent football this weekend, how many goals at white hart lane?!! at least spurs are just about managing to score more than they let in, then the everton arsenal game, sendings off, goals, an important away win for the gunners, then chelsea having to cheat their win at home to newcastle; their striker was so far offside he should've been charged re addmission, and why does fergie never seem to take the hammers seriously? he should, man u have been outplayed plenty of times at the boleyn and yesterday was no exception, and what a great reception tevez got..........im really starting to enjoy footie again........ ;D

sorry to ad fuel to the fire...but for me...any team to win the prem..but not man-utd...there nothing but cheats..i was watching a game with man-utd...cant think who they was playing....but i got up from the chair..and as i passed the tv set i bumped it a little..and ronaldo fell over...hes nothing but a human submarine....so for me i think the gunners will win it...i have been a spurs supporter since i was 8years old....and i will remain so...but due to many things i dont get over to w-h-l very much....so im more of a spurs fan.anyway..happy new year to everyone. :).

its a good point about todays football joe but its not restricted to one team, they all seem to have them, droppa at chelsea, bergkamp was reknowned for tripping over blades of grass at arsenal etc etc funnily enough i seem to remember it started at spurs with klinsman..... ::)

It's always been there probably since the very beginning (or at least once they started using rules) maybe the television technology we have now just lets us see it better ;)

"Franny Lee of Manchester City, Derby County and England was one of the first players in English football to get a reputation for diving. In one season he scored 35 goals, 15 of which came from penalties mainly won by him".

Dont blame the Foreigners ;)

try watching a premiership match until the officials make a mistake, you will be lucky to get past 4 mins!. as for the cheating , it,s simple really , pay the players 5 bob a week , or better still make it a sport once again and not a profession,,,,,,IRMC.

But theres just as much if not more diving in amatuer games so its nothing to do with wages, its about winning and like it or not its part of the game,
as are refereeing mistakes, they are only human after all and us judging them after having watched multiple replays from multiple angles on the big screen isnt exactly fair is it, they can only go on what they actually see and have to make an instant decision.

The American football method of examining replays would take away that bit of excitement from the game, i've been on the side that has benefitted from an incorrect decision and also been on the side that "was robbed" it evens out

;D

yes cheekyboy2 your right...klinsmann was a diver, and i disliked him for that, but he was a fine footballer.i think ronaldo is a little worse than klinsmann...there seems to be 12 men playing for mu the 12th man being the ref......14 if you include the linesman..but thats football. :).

football could always adopt some rules from rugby! any arguing with the ref after a foul and forward another ten yards, although with the amount of arguing that goes on some of the free kicks would end up behind the goals high up in the stand .

didnt they try that a few years back Neil?
i think all teams at the top go through that stage Joe, it seems to be a fashion to love to hate a certain team for a season or so, unless its chelski, i've always 'ated them, and dont mention mill...wa  wa  wa  no, cant say it.
i dont think the managers help; ars*hole winger at arsenal never see's anything, i remember fergie a few years ago going mad stating he was disgusted that west ham went out and played a good game even though they were already relegated (they stopped man u winning the title), and as for portugeezer (ok he's gone now) at the bridge......

yes again your right cheekyboy2....in my mind..when i dislike a team..thats it..i dislike them for good...as with man-utd.....they make my blood boil..i just cant stand them....that why i dont want them to win anything.yes most managers are blind to what goes on with there team...but seem to spot the slightest little thing with there oponents...and fergie..is the worst.. :).
