Title: Ford P100 Pick-up
Post by merseyscorp on Jan 12th, 2008, 3:04am
Hi,
Having trawled the net, there seems to be very little info on the above vehicle (or maybe I'm used to being spoilt with the vast amount of info available on this site?)
Anyway, I'm trying to find/buy a half decent example of one for general use.
Does anyone have any vital info, tips, advice or even where I can find one of these (splendid) vehicles?

thanks.

basically its a sierra with a flat bed. earlier ones were mk 5 cortina based but those are as rare as rocking horse poo. watch out for usual rust spots. engines are exactly as fitted in a sierra so parts easy to get hold of. they do tend to hold there value a lot better than the cars though, so finding a good cheap one may prove difficult. they do pop up on ebay from time to time, have never seen one go for less than £400 and that needed work. good luck with your search.

Pretty sure the P-100 had 5 stud wheels ?
Maybe Granada or Transit hubs - seems to ring a bell.

yep your right there mike, they are fitted with the 5 stud tranny hubs and, wheels, but the rest is pure sierra or cortina. by the way there are 2 in the commercial section on ebay at the moment.

How about THIS (http://liverpool.adzooks.co.uk/for-sale/motors/ford-p100-pickup-g-1623961.html). Found by inputting P100 into Google. :)

Hiya.I,ve had 2  P100,s & the main thing to look for is rust. They rust everywhere & i mean EVERYWHERE.1st one i had was a cortina shape with a 1600 pinto.Contary to popular belief the doors are actually from a MK4 -3 door model & are impossible to get.The cabin floorpans are different too. Some early 1600,s are a low compression engine & IMO needs  to be avoided.Hubs are transit & no ,granny rims wont fit.Gearbox is standard cortina, but sadly the gearing is quite tall for some reason. My sierra shaped one wasnt much better really.Still full of rust but at least was more comfy thanks to seperate seats (cortina was a bench). The previous owner had replaced the diff with one from another ford, but i never found out which ? The 2.0 pinto was much better than the 1600,but i still binned the VV carb in favour of a webber down draught & fitted a 4 into 1 manifold designed for a capri (just clears the bulkhead),coupled with a home made exhaust consisting of a length of 2 1/2" scafold tubing & a cherry bomb silencer.Wheels were courtesy of a 92 transit toureno (5 spoke).Fitted front seats from a granada (black leather) & trimmed the doorcards in black vinyl & that was about it.Drove it everywhere for nearly 4 years before the chassis finally got too bad to patch up anymore  :'(.Do miss the old gal though  ;)
