Title: Opinions please
Post by tintin on Feb 5th, 2008, 1:41pm
Ok, so the old school mini is leaving me, i need a replacement. Will only do daily 11m work run through town (hoping to get my scorp through another year), so needs to be small, economical, reliable, with bags of character. Have up to £7k to spend. Dont like the new mini or beetle or fiat, definately not an MX-5.

Narrowed it down to Nissan Figaro (coolest and more room, but older and slower), Daihatsu Copen (lots of toys, newer, only 2 seats) or Smart Roadster (as per Copen). Anyone had any dealings with these?

Any opinions?

aprilia rsv mille 1000.........

with titanium aprilia factory race exhaust fitted, superb torque from the 1000cc v twin feels like the back wheel is punching the tarmac, gorgeous looking bike with typical italian styling and character, the shockwave from the exhaust makes your ears feel like they're bleed........

yep, the smart roadster is the least characterful of the three, but most modern and nippy (or are you thinking of the smart car?). its better than a eurobox !

bike? in scotland? to work? do they come with umbrellas?  ;D

so, nobody has owned a wee car like these, then?

those suzuki coffee things are awful, get a convertible smart car in lime green tiger stripes..... ;D

an ex girlfriend had a smart car, excellent little thing, plenty of leg room etc, bit of space behind the seats for shopping, i did think the dash etc looked a little bit 'early learning centre' and it was a bit noisy at speed.....

yep, i think the smart beats the copen and suzuki, i think. so its between the smart roadster for more modern driving, and the copen for retro cool. hmmm....

If you're thinking of a smart car....then don't  {}

Sit-on lawn mowers are far more economical.... }{

the temp gauge will be the least of your worries and prolly aint a problem, the pull to the right is prolly normal too.

as tested by maggie thatcher in the 1970's and with basically no design change since then.
does it have the old 'A' series engine as used by austin, morris etc in the late 60's?

lol, i know its a metro, i can work my way round the running gear no probs after the mini....

no it has the K-series, and 5 gears !! luxury !!

yep, im ignoring the temp at the moment, scanned it and no errors, so im thinking wrong thermostat in it (which is a pig to do on these). pull to the right is annoying though....

Please bear in mind the this vehicle is mid engined and therefore not DIY servicing friendly.
The oil can only be changed by sucking back through the dipstick.  The engine has been taken out to replace the sparkplugs and to even simply change the pollen filter requires stripping half the back end down.  :-X
