Title: audi A4
Post by rich1 on Jun 5th, 2009, 8:01pm
just got home after driving to and from bournemouth driving an audi A4 , and got to say ive never driven a more uncomfortable car , the seats were horrible and have now got a neck ache like you wouldnt belive , the only plus i could find was the fuel econemy,(2.0td) i did 258 miles (not slowly) and was getting on average 41.4 mpg
and when i filled it back up it only cost 31 quid , but no way would i buy one . no off to soak my stiff gregory in a nice hot bath

Yeah, aint it funny. The Audi's are really nice looking cars but driveability seems to be in question.
We had an A3 2.0Fsi Sport at work a while back which I sometimes drove.
Build quality was really good and it certainly looked the part (leather, cruise, climate control, Bose stereo etc) but the FSi engine is really hard to get going and the ride is really stiff. Clutch (yes it was a bloody manual) was almost impossible to control nicely and cruising down the A1 frankly made me feel sick.
Seemed like the rear was a lowrider cycling up and down all the time. Very strange.

Note to all Scorpio owners: if you ever move on from the Scorpio, take the captain's seat with you. You will not find anything more comfortable, I guarantee.

Chap at work has an Audi S6 - 4.2 V8.
Very nice car, but I wouldn't want the sevicing & repair costs.

Cambelt change due at 80k : £800 - £1200 depending on wether you go to an independant specialist or ( shock, horror ) a main dealer.  :o :o :o

never a truer word spoken :)
as for the interior , it was ok but a very confusing centre console system , and the radio volume adjuster on the steering wheel was just a cheap plastic thing which you rolled up or down , looked very much like an after thought ,

When replacing my Scorp diesel estate I looked at both A4's and A6's (as well as a Signum!!) but for a number of factors ended up with a Mondeo ST diesel estate. Economy just as good and far more comfortable, faster, better ride, better handling and cheaper, no brainer really.

The Mondeo Titanium GhiaX has exactly the same seats and setting on them as the Scorpio and is as comfortable but I was unable to find one when I was changing my scorpio . Looked for months.. I could have got a NEW one but that was out of the question .....
