Title: Wedding car Post by tonyboy on Sep 4th, 2009, 6:11pm Hello does anyone know if you can have a plate on the front of the wedding car saying the bride and grooms name, instead of your normal number plate. I got my daughters wedding and she wants my car as the wedding car, looking forward to dressing the scorpio up in ribbons........ :) |

Title: Re: Wedding car Post by wojtekor on Sep 4th, 2009, 6:36pm That's gonna be nice ;) I don't think there should be a problem with the no. plates. I've seen quite a few cars dressed up for a wedding with their no. plates covered with a 'just married' sign or something similar... Though I think it would be best if you phoned up your local police station and ask, just to be sure on this. |

Title: Re: Wedding car Post by Jonnycab on Sep 4th, 2009, 7:06pm Not sure that would be legal .....as far as I'm aware, it's an offence to display a false plate or cover/obscure a number plate. You may get fined if caught :-/ Why not put their names at the top of the screen, that used to be very popular ;D |

That is correct but i read something on the web, "unless under certain circumstances" but it didn't say what those circumstances were. I'll have to ask a policeman ;D |

Title: Re: Wedding car Post by Jonnycab on Sep 5th, 2009, 12:35am I'd imagine the circumstances would be if trade plates were fitted over the number plates......or the car was being towed by a recovery truck & the plate of the vehicle towing it could be displayed over the top of the number plate :) P.S...just done a bit of googling & found out it's a minimum £30 fine (no points) & a maximum 2 years porridge ??? .........so it's probably a good idea to go down the local cop-shop & ask ;) Hope the weather stays nice for the wedding :) |

Title: Re: Wedding car Post by Highlander on Sep 5th, 2009, 10:59am Not on a public road. you'd probably need to find a policeman on a real bad day to actually get charged with it while driving to a wedding but you ARE breaking the law ;) |

Title: Re: Wedding car Post by tonyboy on Sep 7th, 2009, 10:53pm Hello, I asked the question about the front plate with the bride and grooms name and this was the reply... This would not be legal, a front registration plate is required and must be visible. You could perhaps add an additional licence plate, possibly above or by the side of the existing one for the purpose of the wedding. |
