The X-Factor is one of the most popular TV shows in history watched by millions each week. The show consists of thousands of hapless wannabes vying for a million dollar record deal and being judged along the way by a panel of ‘experts’ - The ‘experts’ are, (dis)respectively:....

Louis Walsh - a pop music manager who gave the world the colossal talents of ‘Boyzone’ and ‘Westlife’ as well as equally great but less well known acts such as ‘Bellefire’ and ‘Six’....

Cheryl Cole - A product of the same programme under a different name (Pop Idol) - A vacuous, talentless Barbie-doll who can barely hold a tune, elevated to public fame mainly as a result of the infidelity of her soppy footballer boyfriend.....

Danni Minogue - A former kiddie soap star and singer of a handful of the most sickening and brainless types of bubblegum pop records. Forever in the shadow of her bigger (and not much better) sister. I think it’s a fair bet to say that Ms Cole and Ms Minogues musical knowledge combined is not up to very much, don’t you agree? So much so that I wouldn’t be surprised in the least to hear that they consider the Rolling Stones to be a set of kid’s marbles.....

Simon Cowell - the main figure of this pathetic bunch and a very clever businessman indeed. Cowell was jump-started into the music business via his music executive father. Now he holds shares and franchises in the 'X factor' and its American spin off ‘American idol’ as well as other brain-dead reality shows, for which he commands a massive and very insulting amount of money. Significantly, when he was featured on the TV programme ‘This is your life’ a couple of years ago, there was no mention at all of Simon the music lover. That’s because Cowell has no interest in music whatsoever outside of it being a very lucrative business venture. He has also been responsible for producing some world class acts too, just like Louis Walsh, such as ‘Sinitta’ ‘Sonia’ ‘Five’ and ‘Robson & Jerome’ - Phew! He was also voted ‘the most famous man in the world’ recently by British schoolchildren, relegating God himself to second place! Suffer the little children eh?....

.. ..

So much for the music ‘experts’ then - But the public! The public have bought into this outrageous debacle hook, line and sinker! The winner of the last series released a single which immediately became the fastest selling single in European music history! It’s a song especially picked for her by Simon called ‘Hallelujah’ -  Simons company of course, owns all the rights to it, but not only that, he also owns the rights to the Leonard Cohen original and the Jeff Buckley cover! Both of which sold like hot cakes as a result of the songs exposure! Hallelujah indeed eh Simon?      ....

And is this song a fabulous piece of music? Of course not! (‘Turgid’ would be a more appropriate description) But it doesn’t matter - all of the zombies glued to their TV sets were sold the single along with its screeching, warbling singer in a huge, brainwashing, marketing exercise......They’ll buy it even if they don’t like it!!  - The people behind this show, and Simon Cowell in particular, know this fact full well and they are the ones who will reap the true benefit in terms of their ever-expanding bank accounts, just like they do with all the previous winners of the show! ....

Those who have happened to win this contest in the last few years since its inception and who are considered not so marketable for one reason or another are quickly dropped and very rapidly disappear from the scene. Those who are marketable however will continue being geese that lay golden eggs for many years. Cowell and his associates are the true winners here. They’ve just made another few million for themselves in the name of ‘entertainment’ when in fact all it is, is a very cynical business/marketing operation, run by people who know full well how ignorant the public are and how easily they can be persuaded to part with their hard earned money! You’ve got to hand it to old Simon - he really is a master con-artist. He should have been a politician! He’d probably make prime minister.
.
.
.
P.S....I didn't write this.......it is quoted from a book written by a good friend of mine, which has just been published. I thought it summed up this programme absolutely perfectly......& it saved me the time & hassle of writing something similar myself  ;)..... ;D

JC you are absolutly right. Cowell is shrewd.and preys on the public for his own gain. the prog seems to be keeping Jedward in to get more money through voting.  >:(

Hey, watch what yer sayin about Simon Cowell.
He's my son.  ;D

Seriously though, my eldest boy has the exact same name and he does seem to get preferential treatment when booking anything on the phone or internet.
Mind you, faces do drop somewhat when he arrives at a restaurant having booked a table over the phone.
