Title: 2.9 manual Post by NormanHall on Nov 19th, 2009, 9:08pm Was there ever a 2.9 - 12 valve manual ? or even a cossie manual, as I have never seen any advertised. |

Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by Tons_of_fun on Nov 20th, 2009, 8:08am Used to have a 2.9 MK3 granada with a manual box ( 2wd ). Lovely car :) :). Matt has just finished converting his cossie to manual ;), so he,s probably the best to ask ( still fresh in his mind ). They are one hell of a beast with a waggly stick 8) 8) 8) |

Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by NormanHall on Nov 20th, 2009, 8:13pm where did you source the bits, what box is in it, did the propshaft marry up, does the speedo read true, anty update would be appreciated |

Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by Highlander on Nov 20th, 2009, 8:19pm Thee are a couple of threads detailing this Norman, try a search. Basically i think it involves using the bellhousing from a V6 manual box (Sierra/Granada) mated to the rear of the Scorpio diesel MT75, using the manual propshaft, pedal box etc |

Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by big_timer on Nov 21st, 2009, 1:42am does the 24v probe or cougar use the same cossie engine? and did they ever come in manual? |
||
Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by tlundkvi on Nov 21st, 2009, 7:49am Those are front wheel driven, and probably need major reworking to fit. I believe the cougar came with mondeo engines, e.g. 2.5 V6. |

Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by Matt on Nov 21st, 2009, 11:32am Stuart is correct basic run down v6 mt75 bell housing mated to a diesel mt75 rear end, diesel hydraulic clutch (requires bell housing mods) diesel prop shaft, pedal box and brake master cylinder,( i used the cossie one but its not long enough as the brake pedal sits lower and doesn't turn the brake lights off :( will be changing this for a manual master) diesel brake/clutch fluid pot escort cossie clutch kit (may be worth using a v6 friction plate as the escort one isnt dampened enough and you hear the springs rattling a bit at idle) sierra 2.9 flywheel wiring mods, and a fooling kit to bypass the auto's electrics so theres a few bits i'll do different to how it is now once the other engine is ready to fit parts were sourced all over the place, ebay, word of mouth, scrap yard trauls, ive prob clocked up nearly a 1000 miles getting bits / having them modded |

Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by NormanHall on Nov 22nd, 2009, 2:32pm I dont think that I will bother, since I turned seventy my get up and go is refusing to operate properly |

Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by Dave2302 on Nov 22nd, 2009, 5:03pm Myself and others on Ford Power have proved that a properly built and modded Auto is faster than a Manual acceleration and gearshifting wise, and no clutch etc. I know the waggly stick purists hate em, and will slate me for this, but I love 'em ;D ;D |

Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by Tons_of_fun on Nov 22nd, 2009, 6:13pm Just out of curiosity, why do you want to convert to manual ? If it's better acceleration your after why not fit a diff from a 2.0ltr. On a 12v you should have around the same acceleration as a cossie. ;) |
||
Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by Tekno on Nov 22nd, 2009, 8:04pm manual + 4.27 diff = insane acceleration ;D ;D |

Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by Dave2302 on Nov 22nd, 2009, 8:06pm [] yep that'll do the trick, dont forget to fit the 2.0 litre VSS plastic gear too or the speedo / trip computer will read out ;) |

Title: Re: 2.9 manual Post by Matt on Nov 22nd, 2009, 8:28pm manual + 4.27 + 4.0 24v = weekly trips to kwit fit ;D }{ |
