Title: Re: Stolen!! M128 UDT Post by Matt on Dec 25th, 2009, 1:08pm Hey all well after having our maverick nicked we bought what appeared to be a lovely SOHC 4.0 explorer, drove great on test drive and drove fine for about 10 miles then about a mile after joining the M1 we were on the hard shoulder with no drive and the transfer box making all sorts of mechanical noises you don't want to hear after an hour of playing with it in the dark and snow on the hard shoulder we finally got it to drive, but only in low range, got it home eventually, then today tried it again and for about 2 mins its was fine, drove in high/auto no probs then just like last night lots of noise without any prior warning like a light or a bang, just drops out of gear and only works in low range now never worked on one of these so anybody know what might of failed? auto oil still lovely and red, autobox works fine, no whining etc when in high or auto range it sounds like a manual when you miss a gear, also when its grinding its hard to move the shifter into another drive mode (P, N,R etc) when in low range its works fine with no noises or issues? Stumped and well peed off Matt >:( >:( |

Title: Re: Stolen!! M128 UDT Post by Baz on Dec 26th, 2009, 10:19am I seem to remember when I had my Granada Scorpio 4X4 that had a similar problem to what you describe. It turned out to be the transfer shaft in the 4X4 box. That was a good few years ago mind, but does sound familiar Baz |

Title: Re: Stolen!! M128 UDT Post by Matt on Jan 13th, 2010, 5:52pm something like that, both cars have faults, the first one body and interior are mint, as are all mechanicals bar the tranferbox the new one has good mechanicals also but its a bit rough so when weather gets better we'll make one great one out the 2 and brake whats left lol |
