Seeing as my old barge is in the garage again ::)
it got me thinking of the bills I've had since owning the Scorpio.

Injector pump
Fuse Box Rewire
Rear Disks & Pads
Rear Shock Absorbers
Front Drop Links
Bottom Steering Joint
Various Brake Pipes
Steering Gaiters
Wiper Blades
Thermostat
Diesel Injectors
N/S Sill

Not bad for 7 months ownership }{

Cost so far scared the life out of me, so I stopped adding it up !!

I've had several friends say, "get rid of it" & "why are you spending all this money on some old Ford banger"

Hard to explain why, but there not much else around for this money with the same level of equipment & comfort.
A few BMW's but the repair bills on these are even worse.

Plus the fact I actually like driving it ;D

Dont want to upset you Rob, but apart from service items & a few bob on cosmetics none of my Scorpios have cost me a lot ( thats me gone & jinxed it ) ;D. Come to think of it i have probably spent more on polish than spares ::) ;D ;)

You get some cars like that. I've had several that I never spent a penny on, & even sold on for a profit.

Other however, are moneypits. One in particular was an RS Turbo I had 10 or 11 years ago.
I spent best part of £8000 in 2 years on repairs. }{

TBH, i have been quite lucky with all my cars ::) & lets face it there has been a few ;D ;D ;D. This is my 4th Ultima, i,ve had 11 Granadas ( mk2 & 3 ), mercs, jags, rangies & porkies not to mention a load of other tat in between. I think the most i have ever spent on one single item was £500 on a stainless system & manifolds for my last Range rover. However i do wish i had spent the money to have my last Ultima re wired. It was absolutly mint ( with trophies to show for it ), but a HUGE electrical problem saw it go to a trader for £ 500 :'( :'( :'(. Good memories though ;)

Since I got my 7 series I have spent £70 on water pump and am just having to buy 2 tyres at £215 each.

I need to change oil and filter too so another £80 no doubt. But in the time I had my last scorpio I spent about 6k on it,,,, Shudder shudder... hope Gozz's enjoyin it.... ;D ;D ;D

Yes I am reaping as YOU sowed ;) Looking at all those bills you gave me with it,the body boys had more than their fair share ???

I lost count of how much I spent on my Scorpios over the years. S29COS must have had at least 7-8k spent on it with wheels from Germany, F1 tyres, DVD system and wiring for all that, spare headrests, DAB, SAT NAV head from a Focus, phone systems and that was before the LPG conversion, HID lights, more tyres plus servicing, replacement parts, MOT and fuel. Then there was the gearbox work, spare lights, doors, bumpers etc. etc. etc.

I shudder to think what the actual cost is!

thears a face lift 2.3 est on brothers drive that the last owner spent over 20k on it in just over two years .not inc ins mot or fuel.but he did do100k in that time
