Title: my 1st MOT
Post by stuarte on Apr 9th, 2010, 5:21pm
I bought a 95 2.9 12v ultima with 40,000 gen miles without mot, it had sat for 4 months as owner dies, i paid £250.
anyway i drove it the 3 miles for its mot, the abs light came on after a mile, but it always came on and went out after a second everday i started it outside my house, for a few days before mot.
that worried me, an hour later the tester said, mint car it just needs steering gaitor and got a hole in sill size of 50p, £70 total repair monday. he did say maybe new discs next year as car sat for ages off the  road.
so does that sound good mot result, and on the 3 mile drive back i got no abs light on.any ideas

Result, As for the ABS light perhaps it shifted some dirt from the sensor when you drove it, and cleared the light. Mine does that sometimes mostly in the winter when we've had snow and slush, it comes on for about 3 days then seems to clear itself, then it's ok until we get some more snow

i sat in the garage watchin it getting tested and nervous and when it went on the rolling road for brake test i though the abs light will come on and fail car. the tester just said all i need is wax oil on underneath and car will last years

Thats as it should be, it should come on when first starting the engine just to check that its working then go off. The ABS kicks in when your going to go into a skid.......... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/abssystem.htm
