How much are shared between the two engines? Is the Cossie basically a Cologne with new pistons, cam drive and top ends, or are they only sharing bore and stroke dimensions?

The 24v IS a Cologne ;D

Thanks :) I believe the Cologne runs OHV via pushrods, so I presume they must have done quite some redesigning in order to make it into a DOHC

the 24v is a cologne as stuart stated, bottom ends are pretty much the same, but the front castings top castings and the complete top end were redesigned for the 24v's (BOA and BOB)

The Essex use Heron heads, which is arguably the reason for their excellent low-down torque, high fuel consumption and limited top end performance. It was new to me that they were so heavy, though.

Ive met the guy who owns the boost performance a few times, and seen his workshop, not every day you walk through a door and are greeted by a twin turbo v8 with just over 1000bhp ... :D:D

Essex V6 sounds a lot better

and in a drinking competition will win everytime :(
