Title: Expensive Scorpio Post by PJDavis on Dec 1st, 2010, 6:59pm I was just browsing through a load of sites today mainly for Zodiac car-sales and bits. I came across a classic-car site that was all Fords, and here was a bloke trying to sell a P-Reg Scorpio 24 valve Cosworth for £4700! He stated in his advert there was only 30 of these cars made! He also stated that the car was ok, but the body had a bit of rust and a few dents. I had to email him and 'set-him-straight' I'm not sure how many Cosworths were made, but I told him we had a member with at least 10 in various years and body types! I also told him he should be happy with £1500, if he could find a buyer. Maybe a bit naughty that, but £4700..................is he kidding? Pete |

Title: Re: Expensive Scorpio Post by TiberiuS on Dec 1st, 2010, 9:04pm Wasn't Beckham's old car, was it? ;) At the end of the day, it's only worth what someone's willing to pay for it.. :-/ I remember the guy on Fleabay a few years back who tried to sell the 'chipped' & 'one-of-a-kind' Pepper Red 2.3 Ghia for a huge sum, that guy got a huge amount of spam mail from the guys on this forum as I remember, never did sell the car.. ;D Then again, I dropped the name 'Cosworth' in the adverts for my 2.3 Ultima and got a lot of stick for it on the forum and still only managed £900 back in Jan 2007, didn't do me any favours ;). That cut into me as that old bird cost me £1700 in Sep 2004 and around £3000 during the time I owned it, but that's life I guess, love hurts.. :( |

Title: Re: Expensive Scorpio Post by tlundkvi on Dec 2nd, 2010, 8:03am FWIW the Scorpio I had was the only car *ever* I had sold for more than I bought it for. Used it for two years also. Of course I spent a bit on repairs, but that seldom has any effect on the retail value. |
