Title: Dim Dip Eureka Moment
Post by Mike H on Sep 26th, 2011, 6:55pm
Went through the headlamps schematic couple of days ago 'cause I was curious how "dim dip" works.

Uses both dip beam bulbs, but they're powered in series. A relay, worked through both ign sw and light sw in 'side lights (only)' position, breaks the ground of one lamp and connects it to +12V instead. When you go to the next dipped beam proper position on the light sw it breaks the relay supply, so it reverts to normal. Ditto, the relay coil is grounded through high beam, so off again if they come on.

I worked it out that the power drain in dim dip is only 30W (roughly).

I pulled the fuse on mine, i didnt like the dull glow they give off and when the HID light went it they just flickered and failed to ignite with the system reinstated, so the fuse was pulled again  ::)
