Title: drl,s
Post by big_neil on Jan 10th, 2012, 4:24pm
well stuart,(aka highlander) what do you do now that under bumper lights are now legal with the new daytime running lights,do you still flash them on main beam?
daft rules i think as all are different, audis and mercs look silly, citroen are absolutely crap, and have a look at the range rover ,looks like a xmas tree coming towards you.
has anyone else noticed an idiosyncrisy with these lights?often on quite a few cars i,ve noticed when they are turning or using a roundabout that the low light below the bumper comes on gradual like inside theatre lighting then goes off the same, even wiithout the indicator being used, no i,m not daft it happens , take a serious look sometime !
ps. nice to be back on the site.

Blimey Neil,a blast from the past, hope all's well, are we grumpy old men or what? all those silly lights get right up my nose,I think they are there to MAKE people who don't look, aware of their presence  ::)
Stuart is conspicuous by his absence,he hasn't posted for weeks, someone said he is busy with another site !!.

I'm all for them (when used correctly) although some of them do look a bit naff! ;D

Its FOGLIGHTS that are my issue, I still give them the full beam  ;D

I may have mentioned before about a FRONT page article in our local rag, where there was a photo of a young female leaning on her car looking very disgruntled having just been fined for using fog lights in clear weather. There was a mighty furore from many locals suggesting the Police should find something better to do and what's wrong with having your foglights on etc etc ad nauseam. They are the same people who don't signal at roundabouts and park at night leaving their headlights on,often on the wrong side of the road, then travel so close behind you whilst laughing down their mobile phone or having a joke with passengers, not realising that nobody has reactions fast enough to even get a foot to the brake if the vehicle in front stops  ::)
The standard of driving in general is abysmal, and it's becoming increasingly harder to avoid these sods.
Blue badge abuse :o I saw one today parked right up on the footpath outside a shop, but that's another big can of worms !!

On my Nissan 300ZX twin turbo....ok it's really called a Nissan Fairlady  :-/ ......when the indicators are activated....ok when you put your winkers on.......a side-facing spot light adjacent to the front indicator lamp illuminates. It's Nissan's......ok Datsun's........take on the wobbly headlights the Citroen DS had I reckon.
Clever b****rs the Japs.

Haven't fitted my after market LED dazzle strips yet....

Been in Holbeach couple of times. High Street crossroads must have the longest time traffic lights stay on red that I can remember hitherto. LOL ;D

My new Seat has something similar.
I thought it strange a few nights ago when sitting in a queue at traffic lights with my left indicator on. I could see the reflection of my headlights on the car in front and what I thought was a below the bumper fog light on the left side only.
When I got home I left the lights on and got out to inspect the fog lights and both were off. I was a bit perplexed by this as I swore I could have seen the reflection of one light.
I asked the missus to get in the car and put the indicator on and sure enough the light on that side came on. Asked her to try the other side and it was the same.
So besides there being clever Japs there must be clever Spanish or maybe it was the VW Germans that told the Spanish how to do it!
