"I didn't see it" he said...... after shunting it sideways 2 feet....

"and which bit of the 5 and a half metre long Mercedes didn't you see then???"

Maybe the lad will now realise why he was charged £2000 for his insurance eh Baz !  ::) I trust it was a carelessness and not malicious ?

what was he driving?

a chap at work has one of them and that rear wing is huge, so to smack it that high up he must of gone for it

that air suspension can be a pain to sort out, the same chap has an issue with his, its been back at merc 5 times now...

Gosh.... I wish Jeff.

Initial estimate from Mercedes today stands at £8,700 plus VAT plus the S Class the insurance company have given me is costing £360.00 a day to rent!

The lad was driving a Vauxhall Astra and there was very little visible damage to his car, however I;m pretty sure his rear doors won't open!

Basically he was in having a tyre fitted at the unit next but one to mine. I pulled up after he was in there. After having his tyre done; instead of just reversing right out and back and the driving forwards and away, for some reason he decided to do a "right hand down" manouvere as soon as he left their unit which then meant he was travelling along parrallel to the units and at right angles to my car

He never used his mirrors; floored it and stopped suddenly when he hit my car.

His insurance company have authorised the repairs so it all starts on Monday.

I must say that I prefer mine to the newer 10 plate one that they have given me as a temporary replacement!

Not surprising considering the daily rental cost of your coutesy car !

Have to agree - a lot of newer cars have questionable looks...and people said the Scorpio was ugly  :)

That is true! Some bizarre concoctions going around on the roads at the mo must be said. Makes the scorp look quite sensible. ;D

No wonder premiums (or should that be premia) are so blood y high. I think there's a big con going on with these prices. You could get that repair done for a FRACTION of the cost if it were an older car. Look at what this bloke does, and consider the labour element, and to the best of my knowledge he does not charge the earth - he can't - otherwise the Morrris Oxfords and TRs of this world would never get repaired. (pbcm.co.uk)
About time someone blew the whistle on these thieving swines, like the AA or RAC: motorist organisations. But where are they? Up there with the best, ripping the arse out of it as much as they can.
Sorry, touched a nerve....

Jeff, I partly agree with you.... but the parts are expensive because it is a current Mercedes model (apart from the daft lights they put on the new ones)

The entire rear wing section is over a grand, the rear bumper not far from that too because it has radar sensors rather than the parking sensors that have to be drilled in, the suspension is air suspension and the costs for the parts again is anywhere up to two grand.... Bear in mind that when it was new, the car cost somewhere in the region of £87,000.00.......Just look at some Scorpio prices from the late 90's and you will see that things have never changed!

The true reason that insurance premiums are higher is that kids today are not taught enough driving skills and are too reliant on the theory test. The simple fact of the matter is that the lad who damaged my car was a crap driver. He had already smashed another car up in December last year due to his in-experience

If the rise in premiums keeps idiots like him from getting behind the wheel; then that can only be a good thing surely? Next time it could be your car!!

Also, do sharp right-hand turn backwards out of a works unit without looking first = how a typical 20 year old bloke's brain works  ::)

Had a mate years ago (back in the day when we was 20-somethings) totalled a shop front and his Mini by trying to do a handbrake turn going into a side road off Billericay High Street.

Why? Because he thought it ought to work  ::)
