Apologies for crap quality, they were done hastily on a  mobile phone one is a quick ride round a Gravel Car Park and off up the road and the other shows the VIS Valve working.............

Here.........

Still seems a bit flat to me, mind we were doing 120 when we passed the lorry going the other way, but I'm going to look at the ignition map next ;)

Cheers Dave

Hiya Matt,

Very observant of you buddy ;)

What you could check for me is what position the Valve is in between 3200 and 5150 on the BOB ECU with a snapped open throttle.
As you look under the bonnet, with No Vac the VIS Ball Joint is to the left, (RHD Drivers side), that is when the VIS Butterfly is OPEN

I have got it connected so it is closed from Idle but have a read of thread on Ford Power LOL, it's all subject to some discussion atm ;)

It seems that from the 2 torque plots, there is hardly any difference in torque open or closed from Idle to 1750rpm so it was easier to use just one RPM Window Switch to get it to Open from 3400 and Close again at 5150, otherwise if you want 2 Open and 2 Closed points it will need 2 RPM Window switches @ £150 each ;)

Apparantly the BOB ECU also switches it depending on engine load etc, that's why its function is hard to monitor on a Scorpio, it would need a switch and led on dashboard and a lot of driving at different throttle openings ;)
But, hey ho, you only really need Max Torque at WOT ;)

Driveability at more sensible speeds and throttle openings seems fine ;)

I suppose I could try it the other way round, but it is definitely CLOSED when vacuum is applied to the VIS ;)

Cheers Dave

I have noticed this before about Scotland, you do have some terrific roads up there, and hardly anybody using them! ;D

LOL See my reply above, afaik it is only "backwards" below 1750 rpm, when yes it does have vac applied where the BOB ECU does not.

Have a read of this :-

isn't it "portable" of somekind if you just plug it to vacuum. idle = vacuum of hell, max rpm = no vacuum

or does the butterfly still turn sharply in some "random" rpm? (diaphgram spring wins vacuum)

Its controlled off the ecu mate, does its job between 3 an 5k rpm depends on engine load and throttal pos to

I also need rpm switch, but don't know where to get one... Would you tell me Dave?
