Blimey, his price is sky-high.   It's probably not even worth half of that!   I couldn't even get that for 'Aunty' when she had a tax and ticket on her!   'Aunty' is in much better condition than that and it would go for £400.   Mind you, I've had four people off here say they were going to buy her, and no-one has come up with the readies even though I dropped the price.   My quandry now is, do I spend about £150 to get the roof done and the MOT passed, and risk the money in the hope that someone will give me enough money to cover my expenses, or just scrap a really solid car?   My decision will be made about the middle of November when room is made at my work for the students to pull her apart.   :-[

ive noticed the price of scorps is on the up atm, not much on ebay cheaper then 400, i think supply and demand to the banger boys is responsible sadly but hey if my car is worth more in the end so be it, it does annoy me when they race good motors rather then rotted or major mot failures. It's even more annoying when the local boys think they can offer me 100 quid for the cossie then get upset with me when there told to feck off, the polishes i have for it are worth more then that... thankfully the 2 guys on here are willing to give parts away to us, i know the local guy who got my neibours car wanted daft money for anything off it, all of which got binned in the end

It rings a bell (the reg and colour) but I don't remember the rims. Looks a really tidy car though, you can see it's been cared for at some time.

Seriously sad how little they're worth now - last time I looked, 24 valvers were still seeing £1500 - that's how long I've been out of the loop :-/

My 2.3 disappeared off of the DVLA records about 3 years ago, I guess that got banger raced too :(

It does look like it was loved and cared for at some point shame really. I have seen a scorpio 24v estate on ebay £1500!!! maybe they are going up in price now.  ;D

I keep seeing the same Scorpios on ebay, and the price doesn't seem to drop, but I don't think they get sold easily.

People run scared because old cars can turn into money pits, it's a labour of love and we all know they can get expensive :)

An old classic car guy once said to me that there was no such thing as a cheap classic, you either pay now or pay later, that holds true for any older car.

Thought it rang a bell, looks like it was Ultima Bloke's car:

Yes, I must be sad to trawl through old posts ;D

It sold at £400. Prices appear to be on the up. This is one of the dearest I have seen for a while http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-Ford-Scorpio-Ultima-Cosworth-Estate-Automatic-24v-/290797926103?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item43b4e836d7

A trawl through the 'How many left?' website shows there are only about 4,500 Scorpios left in the UK, including the SORN'd ones, ironically that's less cars than the total number of members this forum has :-/

Whether that's a good or a bad thing is open to debate I guess, but as they get rarer the price will get nudged up if enough people want them - it's a bit like the old bathtub curve :)

It's a bit like with our Capri, there was a time when we'd have been lucky to get £300 for it when it was near mint condition, now I reckon I could get best part of a grand for it, even in the condition it's in at the moment, not having seen the road since 1996, needing light resto etc.

I can't imagine our old one owner, 42k miles Mondeo Verona ever being worth more than it's present value of £200 though :P
