Yep , stupid question time ,but what does the snowflake switch actually do ?

I think it takes the car away in 2nd gear rather than first, so you get less wheel spin in snow etc. Will look in handbook later just to check.
Yep moves away in 2nd.

I answered this in Problems (Various issues) yesterday if that helps.
