I cant imagine that as a mondeo it doesnt look modeoish. I notice the little chrome strip along the back with for badge in centre like the pre facelift Scorpio. Pic 13
Why dont they bring back the Scorpios :(

Dan looks have nothing to do with it. mk3 granada to a scorpio or even the mk2 mondeo to the mk3

yeah mate i didnt mean that. I meant its gonna be hard to see it as a mondeo as alot of people might thought about the scorpio.

Taurus - Mondeo....not quite the same, but very close, aren't they.

I lost interest in Ford when they ditched the RWD engine layout and stopped making drivers cars ;)

I sat in my Capri the other day, now that's only a slushbox'd 2 litre, but it just has a feel...just evokes an emotion or pushes a button or something as soon as you sit behind the wheel..that no post-Scorpio Ford has done for me :-/

A guy I work with just bought a nearly new Mondeo Titanium X 2.0..it's alright, we went for a drive, it's got loads of toys, ride quality and refinement are streets ahead of the Mk3 (and makes the Mk1 we used to own feel like a gutless tractor in comparison), but at the end of it all it's just a car and it did nothing for me whatsoever on that level.

I've heard a couple of people gush about the Ecoboost engine that's gonna be on the new Mondy, but a 1.0 litre in a car the size and weight of a 2.3 Scorpio? It gets me back to my Aunt's new Civic, yeah it gets good gas mileage for a 1.8 and yeah, it's got 1.5 times the bhp of my old Capri, but get that thing on the A12 and you have to literally push it along..in some ways I really do like it, but it's no fun to drive, regardless of how good the gas mileage is or how good the power specs are on paper it still feels underpowered in the real world and the car behind with a normal sized engine is still gonna be pushing you along when you get to a hill or drive into a headwind..

If you wanna make a small petrol engine more driveable, forced induction for low end torque is the only way to go baby ;)

Back on topic..nearest to the Scorpio (same family of chassis, shares some running gear, similar size) is the Jag S-Type - the S-Type R is the cheapest way to own a supercharged 8 (twice the power of a 24v) and post 2004 ones are really nice if you don't mind the image..

I liked the Rover 75 / MG ZT, I sold both of mine but kinda miss the turbo'd ZT especially. They had some bugs and they are still FWD but the V8 is RWD and pretty quick if you want to take the chance..

Otherwise you're looking at Crown Vic imports or something from Oz, or maybe a premium German car (Audi A5, E Class)..

Tiberius is right with one of his options, imported aus falcon is closest you can get to the Scorpio. Not quite the same level of kit, but rear drive, big engine, massive boot, very very comfortable and right hand drive. If ford brought them over I'm sure they'd sell well.

I love mine and its a good replacement. Just have a 2.3 Ghia Scorpio as a pool car left to reminisce.
