Hi all
I do love the originality of my scorpio 24v BUT do you think i could get away with the Ghia x trim (recaro seats, door cards stering wheel) and some of the option ford rs7 alloys? (i think thats what they were called). or do i just leave it in ultima spec?

I agree with Lee it is your car and you can change whatever you want to change on it. I do seem to remember that some people on here have said that the recaro seats were not as comfortable as the ultima seats but it might be the other way around for a young man like yourself.

yeah i do remember someone saying that. i think it was the ultima one being better than the recaros. But i like them because they are rare, look good in my opinion and it will give my car a bit of its own personality i guess be a bit different. :D

Personally I would leave it alone.
The 12-spoke wheels IMHO suit the styling of the car better than RS 7-spokes, more of an executive look.
Recaro seats - I think your big problem here would be finding a set in good condition - firstly they are very rare and secondly they are well known for wearing on the side bolsters, particularly the drivers seat - sure they could be re-trimmed but it wouldn't be cheap. the standard leather seats are very comfortable and wear very well.

Those particular mods aint cheap either mate. Your probs looking at £150 for that steering wheel in good condition. A good set of recaros is pushing the £350 mark. A tatty set will cost over £300 to retrim in leather. Then theres those RS7s. A good set will be £300 to £500 and then they never have the correct size tyre for the scorpio so youd have to replace the set

Id leave it well alone for now mate, your insurance is already the price of a small morgage so adding mods will only make it higher.

oh yeah didnt think about the insurance ::) they want 498 per month for regular use :O i'll have to have a shop around i think.

trust me mate compared to some of the stupid quotes ive had that's cheap :o ;D If I have to I will insure the car just for weekends/shows until it comes down. I only paid 250 for the car!! :(

Re the Recaros - be aware they are not electric adjust and unheated as well.

Yeah i did know about the recaros not being electric, not too botherd by that really although it would be nice if they were.

I would never ever change the ultima seats , other than the range rover seats they are the most comfortable seats out there

Try Adrian Flux, they seem to have a sensible mentality that if someone is restoring / building a car and showing it, then they are less likely to drive it into the nearest lamp post ;)
