Title: Scorpio Colour Change?
Post by Daniel on Aug 15th, 2013, 12:42pm
Hi all
Right, if you could have a scorpio in any colour what would it be?
My scorpio needs the roof respraying but i am tempted to just get the whole car done (as soon as i can afford it ::))as it will go to cars shows. I can imagine mine standard but in ford radiant red, with a facelift and red under bonnet details.
So what colours do you think would suit?
Dan :)

Personally I would always stick to the colour the car was originally painted in.   Nothing worse than seeing a nice exterior colour then looking inside to see a different match.

If i was to change the colour i would get everything changed all over even under the bonet because that would do my head in  ;D

Not suggesting this, but thought you might be interested. I drive past Drift Bridge garage quite often, they’ve had a VW on the forecourt that looks surprisingly good (not that I’ve stopped for a close look). It looks a bit like polished & lacquered aluminium but turns out it’s chrome film:

Dave that Chrome film looks good.

I also like this colour that Jonnycab posted some time ago.

Wow that scorpio is a nice one. Anyone know the name of the colour?
I do actually like the chrome  ;D not sure how it would look on a scorpio though?

I don't remember posting that pic ?...then again, there's alot of things I forget  ::)

I do remember seeing the pic before though & remember that it was a photoshop job, although a respray in this colour would look fantastic  :)

A car the size of the scorpio id say couple grand minimum. Add more if your paint is some fancy color changing stuff like the nightshade color

Well i just got a quote from this man.

He is experienced but only just started working for himself, materials would be around 550 so the whole job for 2,500. Seems reasonable just need to get colour sorted and cash  ::)  :)
I keep thinking about that jewel violet now though   ;D

Oi that's my colour :) how about a modern colour like the green or blue off the new focus rs, I do like scorpios in blue tho. Never seen a proper red one tho either.

Title: Re: Scorpio Colour Change?
Post by Daniel on Aug 22nd, 2013, 4:33pm
aaaaarrrrhhhh so many nice colours  ;D
Candy apple red is like what originally  had in mind i think it would look good.
The foucs rs blue would be nice too.
Some of the lads from passionford are going to do a photoshop of my car in Jewel Violet too so  we will see how it turns out :)

Title: Re: Scorpio Colour Change?
Post by Daniel on Aug 29th, 2013, 1:54pm
Right, so i asked one of the lads from passionford.com if they could do a photoshop of my car in red. He said he isnt happy withhow it has turned out and its not the exact colour i want but it give me a idea of what to expect. I admit as it is, it dosnt look great, but in the right red and with the facelift kit, with rs7's i think it will be great. And im quite happy with it  ;D

Be careful with a flat red colour....it can fade & turn pink if not looked after  :)

Title: Re: Scorpio Colour Change?
Post by Daniel on Aug 30th, 2013, 8:43am
oh it will be looked after mate  ;D
The way insurance is for me it might only be used for the shows, im going to buy a cover anyway to keep it protected form the weather.  :)

Dan first pic looks stunning.

I'm really not sure that bright red suits the lines of the Scorpio - its a large executive cruiser, not a hot hatch.
I think a more subtle colour suits a big car better.
Consider your colour choice carefully in case you ever come to sell the car - some colours will really put people off and make it difficult to sell.
Some colours look great on certain cars and dreadful on others...personal choice I guess but 1 thing to bear in mind Dan, red cars cost more to insure according to an old Swinton TV ad  ;D

Thanks mate  :) for some reason the prefacelift rear lights turned orange but i think they look good there, i wonder if that would be possible? Facelift lights with the chrome strip? Looks good with the orange/copper colour :)

The idea of the red came from a mk3 granada i seen. It was at the all granadas together in 2007, sieries 1 so it had the orage indicator lenses, it was a sort of red/orange (more red) and it looked fantastic. Thats why i wanted it with the face lift lights :) But i do agree there are only certain colours that will work.

My opinion only.....................All 'Tarts-Knickers'!   Go for an easy colour, like Blue/Black/White........The only diverse I would consider is BRG.   But a Scorpio is a 'Gentlemans-Carriage' not a Focus-RS.   You'd never sell the car in that Red or Bronze colour, not for the price you'd think it is worth anyways.

PJ I would never sell my car  ;D It will be going to the shows so i want it to stand out, be nothing like any of the others (not that theres many). Somthing different, one to make people take note. If they like it or not, it got their attention  ;). If they dislike it fine they dont have to see it again, if they do like it thats great  :)
The scorpio is a gentlemans carriage BUT by making it a differnet colour, they will (hopefully) get a new kind of admirer. Even if one person who dislikes them changes their mind its worth it to me.
Saying that i have always fancied a white one, and under the bonnet is white anyway so less of a job ;) Got me thinking again  ;D

On gimp mate, its free but not anywhere as good as photoshop but photoshop is expensive. On gimp the colours can be a pain to do but if you have a pic you want doing i can try my best :) Just send it or post it on here :)

Title: Re: Scorpio Colour Change?

Well i think i have changed my mind. Because of how original the car is, the very low milage and links to the dealer, i think it would be a shame to change the colour. I will just send it in for the roof, bonnet and boot lid doing again :)
