Is it me or is the number of views up the creek, or we have a lot more people looking on here now :D :D

Well that can only be good news  ;D I have noticed alot of low milage scopios poping up for sale now too. Maybe the last looked after examples left. Definitely becoming more desirable i think  :)

I agree with you Daniel, they are becoming rarer by the day. The banger racers are using them all the time now
for 'unlimited cc' meetings. I saw at least 65 raced at Ipswich Stadium last Saturday.    Paul.

Must be something wrong, no way does a one day old topic get > 3,000 views just like that. Maybe someone should check the site's bandwidth traffic and where it's coming from, it smacks of a cyber attack. (?)

Just had a quick look around, all topics everywhere are getting massive hits, even very old ones. Something's definitely wrong somewhere.....

Nobody going to do anything about this then? You're going to wait until the server crashes.....

Actually they don't seem to have increased much since last time, so this 'attack' seems to be over but there will likely be more later. Many forums have been 'bombed' over the last year or so, invariably requiring security upgrades.

Yesterday my post about a cheap car on ebay had over 2000 views in just over one hour ???. It was later moved down to over 200. The running balance, top right, says -£40 but is in green and other things are not right. At the moment I am on here most days so perhaps thats why I tend to notice. If its an attack I think its still going on.

Of course another possibility is the software or the database has a bug and needs repairing. Database checks and fixes should be possible with admin tools. I'm just guessing ... e.g. post recount, etc.

More than likely, it's YaBB/phpbb Spider/bots. They usually increase viewing hits. Admin could replace code to prevent this from occurring.

Open: viewtopic.php

Find:
CODE: SELECT ALL
if (isset($user->data['session_page']) && strpos($user->data['session_page'], '&t=' . $topic_id) === false)

Replace with:
CODE: SELECT ALL
if (isset($user->data['session_page']) && strpos($user->data['session_page'], '&t=' . $topic_id) === false && !$user->data['is_bot'])

What I found on my site it was blasted Chinese search engine bots also forums where somebody has posted a copy of an entire web page plus all the photos on it! Bandwidth was getting silly numbers per month and I do have a max. limit imposed on me. Solution was to block them in the .htaccess file by denying access to certain ranges of IP addresses. These include Russia and much of East Europe and the Far East.
