Title: What to do?
Post by Daniel on Sep 25th, 2014, 8:08pm
HI all
Need your advice please.
Today my mom reversed the estate into a mk3 Mondeo in a car park. A small scratch to both cars, around 6 inches on our back bumper and 3 inches on the Mondeo front passenger door.
The man was there and he said he wanted to exchange details for insurance  ::). Now i wasn't there and my parents gave him the details and got his but didn't take any photos. I have some of our car when the got home but nothing of his.
He then said he has a 'mate' who does bodywork, (again ridiculous for a scratch) i don't trust him at all. He has just phoned to talk to my dad but he is out.
Do we have a say on who does the work if through insurance?
Do we loose our no claims? (Had since 1998)
Does he loose his no claims?
Can we ask for a receipt, photos before and after?
Can we pay him for the damage in cash? (if not ridiculous amount)

I'm worried he has damaged the car even more so to make a bigger claim. From what my dad has told me a scratch pen would sort it. BUT my mom has said its her fault 100%, just so annoyed he is going through insurance for that. And i know its not relevant at all but the car was a absolute shed, apparently, 55 plate blue hatch. If he has the work done it will miss-match the rest of the car  ;D
Lots of questions i know but haven't had this before so completely new to what we can and cant do.
Thanks everyone
Dan

Right, he has just phoned and says its on two doors now. And its £400 to repair a scratch!!! im fuming  >:(
We are going to see it Monday as it was the car park where he works.
If its two doors surely it will be one continuous scratch not two separate ones.
We will see what happens.
