Title: Intrest in scorpio Post by a900one on Sep 13th, 2019, 10:06am Each time I take the Scorpio out I get lots of comments, how good it looks, thats a bit supprising ;), and you dont see many of those now. I have even had people taking pictures of it, so perhaps attitudes towards it are changing, and hopefully values. |

Title: Re: Intrest in scorpio Post by Torbayboy on Sep 13th, 2019, 11:35am We get interest also, banger boys knocking on the door! Though being less flippant, they are getting listed for over £3000 now and clean ones are selling. 8) 8) |

Title: Re: Intrest in scorpio Post by QuentinG on Sep 29th, 2019, 8:39pm I get a lot of interest in it too and most of it positive, including 'I have never seen one before' and 'I had forgotten about them and they look good now'. Maybe its 'signature' front was way ahead of its time, if you look at today's Audis and Hyundais with their massive grilles and scowling headlamps the Scorpio now looks relatively uncontroversial, just my view. |

Title: Re: Intrest in scorpio Post by Torbayboy on Oct 8th, 2019, 9:35pm Funny every time I take one of mine out I get Beemys and Owdies stuck on my tail, must be the black 12 spokes, thanks Peter I love 'em ;) |

Title: Re: Intrest in scorpio Post by PJDavis on Oct 10th, 2019, 5:10pm The Black-Twelve-Spokes were a whim! I got a chance to powder-coat in the colour and thought they would look good for winter tyres. |

Title: Re: Intrest in scorpio Post by Torbayboy on Oct 10th, 2019, 6:08pm Thanks Peter, so nice I'm gonna keep 'em. On a dark blue car they look like this https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1159985 Right now you've seen it you can buy it but not the black 12 spokes it will have it's original teardrops back on if I get a good price they will be new tyres also. :D :D |

Yep, I remember that look when they were mounted with winter tyres on 'Movvy'. They had a spell on 'Aunty' as well. You do well with these cars right-enough. I'm gonna try and get a hold of good condition front seats from a Scorpio, and fit them to my XK140. I'll even try and use the heated bit if I can! |

Title: Re: Intrest in scorpio Post by Pegasus on Apr 15th, 2020, 6:06pm Just to update how much interest/nostalgia there is out there: recently took a neighbour to pick up his new (2nd hand) car. A 400 mile round trip from Beckenham, Kent to just north of Telford (A22,Ms 25,40,42,6, 54, then A41). A nice easy drive given the lack of traffic (except around B'ham). Started with a top up at local garage and while neighbour was paying a bloke driving a Merc (cabby) said he used to have 2 Scorps that he loved driving and still has spare rear lights - he dropped them off them yesterday. When we stopped on M40 for a comfort break only 12 cars/vans parked up - like a scene from 28 days later - a bloke got out of his Passat, stretched, walked over and said he used to have a Cossie - lots of power and the most comfortable car he'd driven. Got to the Garage on A41 - did the deal and owner gave the Scorp a good look over and was impressed, very comfortable drive (a theme here!), said he hadn't seen 1 for ages and he sold the last 1 about 10 years ago. He currently drives a Jag Mk2 built 1959 and everything original - even the grey paint and front seat belts - only done 42k. So, mostly gone, but still remembered with happy memories. Cheers Paul |
