Title: Master Key
Post by Kenboy on Mar 24th, 2004, 11:36am
Hi you may have read my previous post on (Boot will not open) and I still cannot get the bloody thing open, by remote or using key I have come to the conclusion that for the remote to work the solenoid will have to be replaced but i need to open the boot to effect this. In the past I have sometimes had difficulty with drivers side and boot using the key I therefore suspect that a new key is required as this one is worn, the question is as I have only the one key can I have a new key supplied by providing appropriate information ie vin details etc your advice would be greatly appreciated and yes the remote works on the rest of the car.

Many Thanks Kenboy

:) Hi Ken,
Yes you should be able to get a new key from Fords. So long as you take the vehicle documents with you as proof of ownership + personel I.D. I take it you were not given the RED Master key when you brought the car ? It will be a bit expensive I'm afraid. Some where on the site are the experiences of others that have had your problem. Also give these people a try. they might be cheaper, a couple of our members have used this Company :- http://www.home-own.co.uk/ala/

sorry yes ..the actual boot button I meant .... on one design they are flush with the boot .. but others are a protruding button but when it sticks in ..it looks as if thats the way it should be ..but it isn't ..it should be out before the key will work ..and i'm rambling on .. bye ..   :-X    STN ..

Hi M8
i' m new to the Beast they call the Scorpio and don't know if this will help....... when i got my car the remote would not work ! so i thought it must be the batteries and trudled down to my local Halfords.........i hate to use them but i was unsure about my local motor shop having the batts............... there they dutifully helpd me in changing the batts, but when in tried the dam thing it still didn't work...... so whilst taking the thing apart i found there was a lot of black gunge on the printed circuit under the button, i cleaned this away with a bit if the wifes nail varnish remover, put the thing back together and it worked !.........you might have already tried this and i'm a bit drunk so forgive me and ignore this pointless drivel

rerards..........HIC HIC...........

;D

Hi I promised to keep you updated on this subject and I hope this is of help should any else encounter this problem and just to recap the remote worked in all aspects except boot plus the key was of no use (this needs replacing) I cured the boot remote problem by reprograming the key, Hey presto all ok now.
