Title: Scorpio Aerial
Post by RossS on Mar 26th, 2004, 2:03pm
I have been stupid and gone through a car wash and snapped my aerial at the base. Can anyone advise on how to repair or fit a new one ?

Whats the cost ?

when you say at the base, can you still unscrew the "whippy" bit of the aerial ?,if you can,job done,if not i'm afraid it's a case of dropping the headlining, little bit difficult, but can still be done...

I had same problem :)

You need to replace mounting for it.
And unscrew broken part from antenna.
That stupid thing - antenna is nut  and
mounting is bolt, and when it's broken you need to
replace mounting...

New part is about 10-15 GBP, to mount it you should remove lighting near the mirror - very simple operation...

Personally I preferred the Granada Scorpio idea of having it built in to the back window, I always had good reception in my Mk3, dont know why they changed it.

I agree. The Granada idea was much neater. And I never had a problem with reception either. With this twig, its a bit borderline sometimes.  :(

Yep the old grany idea was best. My last car a Rover Sterling had the same no probs with reception and less chance of vandals striking.

I have the same problem, whilst visiting a friend today noticed that his Mondeo aerial is indeed the same as the one on the Scorpio, if this helps
