Title: Odd sound on left turn Post by gdwalker on Apr 2nd, 2004, 9:47pm Evening All, Just returned from filling up and I noticed that on a left turn an odd sound occurred. The best way to describe it is an oscillating WooWooWoo, that gets louder the tighter the turn. I only noticed the problem between tracks on the CD, so I don't really know how long it's been going on, and when I say its gets louder, it still is barely audible under normal driving, but when the CD and climate control is off, its definately there and NOT normal. There is no such noise on right turn. I'll check out the ball joints and wheel bearing tomorrow. I suspect these are OK and I'll pay particular attention to the gaiters (cos I suspect CV joint issue). Any advice would be most welcome. Car is 1995 2.0 DOHC Scorpio Ultima (108000 miles). Thanks Graeme Walker |

Title: Re: Odd sound on left turn Post by allante on Apr 2nd, 2004, 11:01pm Probably not much use but before i fitted a new steering rack mine used to run out of fluid about once a week and the first sign it made was a strange noise on left turns. (followed about 20 miles later by a strange noise on right turns, ending up in just plain strange noise all the time if i didnt get home before it ran out!!) |
