Title: Softer suspension
Post by bertiep5 on Apr 15th, 2004, 3:07pm
;D
I have a 16v auto estate. We do not haul heavy items and at weekends it is just the wife and I on board. SO can the stiff estate suspension be easily changed for a softer unit?
Thanks

hi there

what tyre pressure/tyre size do you run? also, what year is your estate? there are 2 different systems on the estate depending on the year.

It is a march 1996 car running on 235/16 at 30Lbs. The option alloy wheels.
Thanks for your reply

hi there

i'm not sure if you have the 'older' setup with a small compressor 'pumping' up the rear suspension or the 'newer' hydropneumatic self pumping shock absorbers. there's not much you can do to make it softer. make sure your tyre pressure is correct. see

it does make a big difference to ride comfort
have a read of http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/handbook078.gif

ps. i see you've typed 235/16. is this correct? it should be 225x50x16 tyres.
pps. i meant to add, the rear 'newer' shocks are about £350 a pair! :o you don't want to change them, if you can help it!
