Title: slight oil leak
Post by MATTTT on Apr 19th, 2004, 10:08am
just noticed a few little oil drops on the drive , not jacked it up yet but stuck my head underneath theres a long thin rod running accoss the car  just behind the front wheels and above that theres 2 thin oil pipes running lengthways
Any common places they leak from around there,im guessing the oil is from these pipes but not sure until i get under there
thanks
Matt

Hi By the way that you describe this it seems very likely that the oil cooler pipes have corroded and need replacing they run from the cooler rad to the gear box access is fairly straight forward, remove undercover that are held on by torque screws (Easy) and were these pipes come away from the rad cooler you will notice a series of bends this is were the leak will probably sourced.
The cost of these pipes is approx £50. and you may need to top up the g/box oil and if it is confirmed that it is these pipes that are leaking then before replacing apply a couple of coats of rust preventative there are some good products on the market if not you may be replacing again a couple of years down the line just done mine not realy difficult a little fiddly were one of the cooler pipes enters the gear box anyway good luck and incidentaly this is a common problem with the scorps.
Let us know how you get on.

regards Kenboy
