Title: Remote Locking
Post by MichaelRomulus on Apr 21st, 2004, 7:22pm
Has anyone upgraded a central locking car to a remote locking system - I have a 1996 Ultima - I would like to make it remote locking.

Any ideas on costs or if it can be done / procedures etc etc

Michael

Hi Mike
i dont understand the problem  ??? i have a 96 Ultima and it has remote central locking as im sure they all have, did you not get a Ford fob when you purchased the car ? Im fairly new to the Scorpio myself but am sure im correct, did you get a owners hand book ? it tells you all about it in there, even how to program a new or replacement fob for your car, which i think are about £70 from Ford, but before you go and buy one see what other people have to say about it also

regards    ;)

Hi Mike I have a 96 Ultima and as Dean says you should have a remote which is discussed in the handbook. It is also well listed on this site.Replacements are a bit expensive, I believe around £100 so I am told.

hi michael

both dean and rich sound right, the car being an ultima, should have the remote locking, dont worry at the moment, when we meet and attend derby,i am sure someone including me will re-programme there remote to your car, this will then tell you if you have the remote facility, then all you have to do is to get a remote, ford want between £60-£75,they do come up for sale on e-bay,but lets see if it works first........
