Title: another question Post by iainand on Apr 27th, 2004, 8:16pm should my radiator cooling fans run all the time with the engine running? both fans begin to run as soon as engine is running, they also continue running even if i turn off the air con. |

Title: Re: another question Post by Dai_H on Apr 27th, 2004, 8:52pm I would say no. Whole point of an elec fan is that it only works when the engine gets too hot, which would not be the case when starting from cold. Would be a temp sensor prob, thats my guess. Dai |

Title: Re: another question Post by scorpio_man on Apr 27th, 2004, 9:05pm hi there yes and no! the fans will come on if.... 1. air con/c control is on 2. dial set to de mist (even if green light is off, air con is still on!) 3. hot engine they will continue to run for a minute or so after switching off a/c. if the come on only in high speed mode, then you might/will have a a/c problem. hth |

Title: Re: another question Post by iainand on Apr 27th, 2004, 9:08pm ok, which sensor plug? and where do i find it? i take it that the second fan would only come on if temp got real high? the first one come on a bit earlier?? im used to bmw, with its viscous fan! |

Title: Re: another question Post by Snoopy on Apr 28th, 2004, 8:31am Thes ender for the fans is I think near to the top hose connection on the engine near to the gauge sender unit.. its usually the one with several wires coming off it where as the sender unit only has one.... Cheers Snoopy |

Title: Re: another question Post by Eddie on Apr 28th, 2004, 2:47pm The temp.senders are underneath the thermostat housing, difficult to get at.You may have to remove intake trunking (2.0/2.3). The front one(single connector) is for the guage on the dash and the one behind (twin wire) is the eng temp sensor, this is the one that reports back to the pcm and determines the fan operation. If it disconnected then fans will come at at full speed. Obviously if you have climate control then there are other factors governing fan operation. eddie |
