Title: noise Post by Welshie on May 2nd, 2004, 10:18pm hello all Hope you all enjoyed your meet in Derby wish i could of made it perhaps next time. Now i'm not very good at explaining noises so don't laugh to much. I have a 2.3 ultima P reg. and i have a strange noise is a bit like a droning noise, changed both front disks and pads but the noise remains it is very evident when slowing down and the whirring noise decreases whith road speed otherwise the car is beautiful but need to get this sorted so any advice will be very much appreciated best wishes ant |

Title: Re: noise Post by Oliver on May 2nd, 2004, 11:44pm Does it appear to come from the rear of the car? If so then mine does the same. I think it's either the diff or propshaft bearing. Oliver |

Title: Re: noise Post by Rich on May 2nd, 2004, 11:50pm Hi, just a suggestion as I have had droning on cars before although not on my scorpio, it could be a dry wheel bearing. The best way to check this out is to raise the car and spin the wheel by hand and you should be able to tell by the sound or lack of sound it emits. It should be quiet but if it makes a rough scraping noise it may be shot. Its sometimes deceptive and you may need to go round each wheel in turn. You could also try rocking the wheel to see if there is any movement to reveal any play in the bearing. Anyway this is my first thought when you said its speed relative but see what others think. cheers Rich |

Title: Re: noise Post by Snoopy on May 3rd, 2004, 7:08am without hearing it.. I would go for rear wheel bearing(s) to start with |
