Hi Scorpi

Below is an exchange I had with Armin Droste on the list.    As you can see, Armin's problem was the switch itself, mine was a broken wire at the switch, others have reported a break in the wire at the point where it enters the boot from the cabin.

Hello again Kevin,

thank you very very much for your helpful answers. With your advice I
yesterday finally was successful in everything:

1) removing the trim piece
2) finding the boot lock switch
3) identifying the failure.

The switch had exactly the shape and colour as you had described. Actually I
had to dismount the complete lock mechanism to have access to the switch.
With some force it was also no problem, to detach the switch from the lock
(although there probably might be a more elegant method). The blue switch
with a 25cm long pigtail and an oversized (my opinion) three-terminal
connector at the end is not supposed to be repaired. But nevertheless with
some violence I broke it up and found the cause the dark boot light. One of
the three contact areas on the small printed circuit board inside the switch
was so corroded that nearly nothing of the copper layer remained in place.
After having analysed the circuitry I now can say that it was exactly that
contact area by which the ground potential is fed via the slider in the
switch to the bulb in the boot lamp.

So I will now ask my Ford Main Dealer for the price of the switch assembly.
If it appears too expensive to me, I will try to repair the switch by
carving my own pcb from raw material.

Thank you very much again for your support

Regards
Armin

HI there Baz,

Yes, i'm from the netherlands and the types i've seen being sold here are the following types :GLX (the lower)
and GHIA types (Higher)

It seems that the dutch people didn't like the new looks of these scorps ,appart from a few real Ford lovers!
So they didn't bought this beauty when it was produced.

Maybe thats the reason why there are only two types.
