Hi all !

*Intrument panel lighting completely dead. (Scorpio 2.3 estate manual 97)

Checked all fuses, ok. Signal lamps are ok, indikators warning lamps & so on.

Easy to fix?, could all 3 lamps die virtually at the same time ?
I brought the car summer time in Sweden so i didnt notice that the lights were dead until the evening.

Any ideas ? Could it be an earth problem, or a fuse i missed ? Anybody had the same typ of failure.
Its pretty darn black night time.

**Also when i start the car all the indikator needles for speed, revs & so go for a trip around the dial, but also the trip meter is reset every time this happens.

***The RC key locking device(Ford original alarm) will only open my boot, but not lockor unlock the car doors & activate the alarm, ive had it apart washed it with pure alacohol (No not Absolut Vodka:))
Repleced with a new batteri, the problem remains.

****Rear winshield wiper dead, fuses ok. oxidation or salt i guess(live in Sweden = cars are eaten alive by salt on roads winter time)

In Sweden there is a problem in general with rust on back of front door panels were the new crash bar end is spot welde to the very back end of the door panel, Scorpio 95-98 leaving a lovely seam for salt to creep in thus 95% of all Scorpios from 95-98 are usually seriously ugly looking around this erea, usually the rust has startetd creeping round to the front of the door.

But i am guessing this is not a problem in most other european countryies who dont marinate the roads with salt winter time.

Would be interesting to hear what kind of price a Ford Scorpio estate 97 2.3 16v say about 80,000miles or 140,000km on the meter would cost in UK in good condition.

I got mine last year in June 2003 its was a 1997 in good kondtition for 49,000 kR Swe Kronor about 3600 uk pound or some 5400 Euros today. It was a great price then, usually asking prices private were around 65,000:- - 70,000:- KR These days you can pick them upp for around 2500 - 3000 uk pounds quite easily in Sweden. A 96-97 the older ones from 95-95 with DOHC 2.0 are even cheaper.

But there will be more rust on a Swedish Scorpio.
So im beginning to think Scorpios are possibly cheaper in Sweden than i England, perhaps even than in Italy & Germay ??

Luckily it seems the newer 2.3 engine is not as prone to cracking, overheating, & blown gasket heads as the DOHC, i know only one person who hase had no problem with his DOHC his car has done some 360,000 Kms he hasnt changed the thermostat even once that he recals, hes had the car since new.

Ive never owned a single Sierra & Scorpio that the elektric cooling fan starts on, but i dont live in a city, but when exactly do they start att 240 celcius ??
