Title: Removing 2007 Radio Post by TauTau on May 23rd, 2004, 4:42pm Hi, I want to replace the 2007 radio in my '93 Scorpio, I already know that I will have a lot of fun with the non-ISO connectors and the amp, but my first problem is an easier one: How do I get that thing out without the tool? I already fubmled a bit in the holes with small stiff wire (tattoo needle bars ;)), but without any success, the radio won't move a bit... Any tricks? Another question: Where should I take the power for an amp (will be fitted in the luggage room)? Lars |

Title: Re: Removing 2007 Radio Post by Badboytunes on May 23rd, 2004, 5:10pm Hi m8. you really do need the removal tools. There are only £3 from halfords. What do you want to replace it with? I had a 1992 scorpio granada and i replaced my head unit. A word of warning tho. These radios have external amplifiers and on the Mk3 granny it is located on the bulkhead on the passengerside. It is just below the windscreen so to get access you have to remove the top part of the dash. This was a poo job to do. Also my motor factors sold me the wrong ISO lead for my new head unit and i ended up driving to cardiff (nearest place) to get one. It was only 15 miles away but it was odd driving with no instruments asnd dash!!! But when it was finished it was great. Let us know how you get on Cheers for now Nick ;) |

Title: Re: Removing 2007 Radio Post by TauTau on May 23rd, 2004, 6:01pm after a bit more trying with different tools, I guess you're right ;) Just we don't have "halfords" in germany, I'll check a local Ford dealer. I bought me a cheap mp3 head unit, love to have a full cd-changers load on one CD ;) I already located the amp, really horrible to access. I need to get the connector off, since I need the wires of the front speakers (will also be replaced). Removal of the dash is hard I guess, seems it's one piece from left to right... better let that where it is ;) Cheers, Lars |

Title: Re: Removing 2007 Radio Post by daven on May 23rd, 2004, 6:42pm You could try taking the screws out of the fasia by the radio, and pull it forward a bit (be careful not to put too much pressure!) - if you are lucky the radio will come forward and you can get to the clips from the side! It must be said that the correct tool is best! The connector will come off the amp without removing the dash - just need to have arms that flew enough! ;) Good luck Daven |
