Title: Heated seat switches
Post by locky on Sep 18th, 2004, 6:17pm
Are the heated seat switches on my N reg Ultima supposed to light up when the lights are on?  They use to do it in my Granada.  Replaced both switches (secondhand) or have i just been unlucky and got another 2 duds.

Or could there be another problem?
;D
Many thanx

Locky,

they are supposed to light up and it looks like you have two more duds I'm afraid. They can be repaired if you follow the instructions on the main website

I have just bought anothr S reg Cossie and both the lights are out on that one as well, everythingt else lights up fine though but it looks like the red one might have to lose its lighty up switches!!

I didn't know that the heated seat switches light up when the headlights are switched. The green LED's comes on alright when I depress the switches to heat the seats up. Also, the red switch for switching on/off the rear electric windows has never illuminated. I assumed it wasn't supposed to. Would these 3 switches be expensive to replace if purchasing from a Ford dealer? Can anyone point me to the correct URL for the procedure for changing these switches out? I am currently on 56K dial up so searching for the correct pages is proving to quite lengthy and expensive!!!

Thanks a mill

See, the thing is, most of us know that these switches are supposed to light up, but very few of us actually have ones that do.
Very similar thing with the heated screen switches. It seems a very common 'fault' that this illumination gets lost.
Thats why I can't be bothered to replace them. At least as things are I have a matching pair. And how long will new ones last? :-/

as for the heated seat switches, mine illuminate with the ignition, not with the headlight switch, seat switches are always on e-bay for sale, but be carefull, probably will work, but not illuminate,if i remember they are about a tenner each from ford,as for replacing, they just "pop out" of there holes,(thin flat bladed screwdriver)....

Well I'll have to make a list of switches to get from Ford so: 2 heated windscreen switches, 2 heated seat switches and the rear windows disabling switch - I like everything being lit up. It looks cool. Jesus, I sound like a kid.  :D

I thought the rear window disabling switch only lit up when it was "activated"

Well that's the heated seat switches lighting up again, decided to have a go at replacing the bulbs, and it worked ;D.  Opened up one of the power window switches to have a look,(got loads, scrap yard junkie ::)lol) they use LED's whereas the heated seat use bulbs.  Unfortunately you can't change them over, as there isn't enough space inside  to fit in another resistor.
