Title: My Cats Died
Post by dexix on Sep 22nd, 2004, 4:30am
Hi all
I would really appreciate some pearls of wisdom on a problem with my beloved scorpio cossie.
It has developed a rattle in the exhaust area (somewhere underneath just behind the front wheels) and because of where I was when it happend it meant I had to drive some way before stopping which seemed to bring on a further problem of real lack of power. I have been told that it is probably the cat and more than likely it has broken up and jammed the exhaust.
What I would like to know please is should I get this done at a FMD or would I be just as well off going to a exhaust place that can do me a pattern part. I dont know if there are sensors involved that need careful refitting  or specialist setting up after fitting? The car means a lot to me and I dont want to risk further problems by cost cutting.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards
Nick

Go to an independant supplier- but get a price first. They are not cheap-especially from the main dealer. The lambda sensors you are thinking of are not a problem. john.n ;)

There are loads of independant suppliers from Cats direct the CES ... Several of the members have done the job themselves and I am sure they will advise.... But get several quotes ...... as John states prices vary a lot... and he got here first....
