Hi,

Please help, I recently changed my auto box for a second hand one. The original was slow to kick in drive then after some months failed completley.
So got the second hand one and had it fitted by local mechanic (good guy) and it it went through the gear changes smooth as silk.....except 4th.
It will not go in, have cleaned the MAF but no effect, so it does 4000rpm at 70mph..not good. An RAC mechanic said, if it was standing before I got it the bands can get dirty and it wont change??.
In addition 2 weeks ago, one evening I noticed the o/d light was flashing but stopped next day. It is now in garage because of horrible rattle that developed 3 weeks ago and it has a cracked manifold and "collapsed cat converter"........Help !!!...regards Thomaso :'(

hi there

while it's in the garage, ask them to do a obd on the gearbox. then post back any code that are found.
