;D Can anyone help. I have fitted new caliper to offside rear. (did'nt fit car has vented disc at rear). Fitted 'cosworth' (recommended by dealer) caliper.
Think i've done everything right in set up but have no handbrake.
I have had wheels off so many times i'm nearly as fast as F1 pit crew. Now in desperation.

Hi , there is a procedure for adjusting the handbrake cable after fitting a new caliper... did you do that ..If not I think thats what you need to do...?

:(Thanks snoopy, i have wound in the piston but unsure how far to go. The info with the caliper warns of tightening too far and stripping the splines.  It then refers to unwinding by half to one turn, this precise measurement confuses me. Does my car need half turn or full turn?  Should i hear a click or feel resistance etc?

Wind the piston all the way back in with the correct tool then fit the new caliper and pads to the disc.. the adjustment I was refering to with regards your post is for the handbrake cable after new calipers have been fitted.  its all here on the site http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/adjhandbrake.htm God luck but thats what I think the problem will be after you fitted the new caliper..

Perhaps it should also be mentioned, The REAR of the pads have a pair of small studs projecting about 1/8 ", the studs of the INNER pad should fit into the cutouts on the face of the piston-on the outer pad they are redundant. So,when winding back the piston (never heard of a click etc,just go back till they are more or less flush with the caliper face) but end up with the cutouts in the correct orientation for the studs.
If you dont do this you will end up with c0ckeyed pads and the possibility of distorted disks with time.
OH BY THE WAY--dont forget to release the handbrake and chock the front wheels.
