Title: Flashing overdive light
Post by Welshie on Oct 21st, 2004, 12:11pm
the abs light came on yesterday as it does from time to time in wet weather assumed that this was moisture in the sensor somewhere and it usually goes the next day. well its still on today and earlier the Overdirve light kept flashing? anyone know whats causing this? can't find any record on the site of this happening hoping someone out there know

best wishes ]

hi there

you'll want to get an obd scan done soon before any damage is done. :(

sounds electrical, but with this car....well! i take it you have all fusebox covers in place? and the battery cover?

thanks for the reply and yes i must get it checked out  with an obd test.
Since last evening though the both lights have returned to normal its been a little drier and as in the past i think the sensor dries out and starts working again, really need to take them apart and give them a good clean

many thanks

Welshie,
The overdrive light is documented on http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/odlight.htm in the OBD section. It indicates that the PCM has detected a fault condition - there's a list of the possible causes on that page.  Get an OBD reading and this should point us in the right direction. It might be a poor circuit as well as an actual gearbox fault, and so might the flashing ABS light, which is written up on http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/abssystem.htm in the Brakes section.
