Title: PCV valve replacement
Post by Neil W on Oct 22nd, 2004, 8:02pm
Whilst I had the valve covers off recently, to replace suspect gaskets, I noticed the PCV valve (push in fit in LH cover) was a bit broken  :-/.

Trevor Porter can only find the FINIS for the 12V 2.9 and not the Cosworth.

Can anyone advise the FINIS and is it the same as the 12V V6 engine?

Thanks,

Neil W.

Hi Neil,

Sorry to be no help but what is a PCV valve? Never heard of it...

It is called positive crankcase ventilation  ;D, and is a one way valve fitted to the top of the valve (rocker) cover and the other end goes into the air intake ahead of the MAF  ;)! I think that oil fumes from the crankcase are fed up into the valve cover and then into the air intake, for environmental reasons, rather than venting to atmosphere as in the old days.

Des,

Thanks for that. On mine the elbow is part of the valve casing, but Trevor Porter has now found one as you suggested.
