Can someone tell me how i can get the air out of my coolingsystem. I have a 2.9 12V from 1996 on LPG
I already looked at different items but sofar nothing works.
I bought the car with a leaking headgasket, because of the driving with LPG. Complete head gasket is new and head is 2nd hand but good.
No leaking anymore, no sludge in the oilfillercap, so thats good.
The 2 fans work perfect. Thermostate is new and working. I don't know it anymore where to look. Please let me know how I can get the problem fixed.

Hiya remco ... what is the actual symptom of this air in the system ?? ..it's still likely to be something else perhaps ..but if it is air then you need to bleed the system in the way most convenient to you .. having the front of the car high so that the filler cap lays higher than the heater radiator box will do it and run the car warm without the cap on until the water level settles down .. if you know anyone with a coolant tester then that's another way as there is an attachment we have that fits the filler neck and extends it to a greater height giving the same effect .. it's messy to start removing hoses and that usually puts more air in than it clears so maybe not that way unless no other works ..let us know what is actually happening though if poss ...... regards ...STN

The symptoms:
- inside the car isn't getting worm, because there is no water.
- LPG evaporator is starting to freese, because there's no water floating through the evaporator
- hoses from the evaporator to the engine and to the inside of the car aren't getting warm.

symptoms at this time:

- hose to lpg evaporator is getting hot, but hose from evaporator to the inside heater is getting a littlebit warm.
- after stopping the engine the 2 fans stop at once and the water is coming out of the fillercap wich i had taken off.

My geuss:
- i get rid of the thermostate to get more water without air.
- i shortcut the LPG evaporator to see if the inside of the car is getting warm

any other suggestions????

Try running the car without the radiator cap until it gets hot and then squeeze the hoses carefully to try to dislodge the air locks you obviously have..... If draining the system again a revese flush with a hose sometimes works and gets rid of any rubbish... other than that keep trying.... I presume the pump is OK... !

Pump is ok. No damage

Strange thing:
The water is boiling and the meter in the dashboard gives normal almost perfect temperature. Is there maybe a second temperature sensor?
Does anyone know what the boiling temp. is from coolingfluid?

Remco,
This seems to be more of an overheating problem, with excess pressure forced out of the expansion tank.
The first culprit is usually the thermostat:- if it's opening late or not fully opening there can be insufficient coolant flow through the heads. Sort this quickly or you'll need another CH gasket :'(
Another possibility is the airbleed pipe from the front of the engine to the expansion tank. This is a small bore pipe and it can gum up, preventing trapped air in the system to emerge safely into the expansion tank. Take that pipe off and make sure it is clear, as well as the nylon connector to take the pipe on the expansion tank.

Eric_R, In the cooling section on the URL you have given i have noticed a mistake, On the section headed "Radiator" under petrol engines #18 states to check the power steering reservoir, You should be checking the transmission fluid.
